Residents are also urged to remain cautious in wooded or tall-grass areas where ticks are most active, particularly during early morning and evening hours when humidity is highest.
Nassau County’s mix of tree-lined North Shore neighborhoods and South Shore properties near canals and wetlands creates varied conditions for both pests depending on location. Properties backing onto reserves or golf courses tend to see higher tick pressure, while streets with mature street trees and older plantings are more likely to attract lanternfly activity.
