Allen Lee Thomas, a retired resident of Jacksonville, Illinois, has released Crap to Consider While Travelling Through the Universe at 66,627 MPH While Sitting Here, a collection of observations and reflections from Author’s Tranquility Press.
The book moves freely between the humorous and the sincere. Thomas wonders what keeps nonstick coating on a pan. He asks who cuts the barber’s hair. He questions whether the iceberg lettuce on the Titanic ever stood a chance.
Born on New Year’s Eve in 1957 in Olney, Illinois, and raised in the small town of Pawnee, Thomas spent decades in the workforce before turning to writing. His first book, The Lonely Library Book, was a picture book inspired by his granddaughter Lily. His second book offers readers a window into a mind full of questions.
The collection includes reflections on carrying past mistakes and finding forgiveness. It features an extensive list of musicians who have filled Thomas’s ears with good vibrations, spanning rock, country, blues, and classical. He also includes the poem “The Dash” by Linda Ellis, which reflects on what matters most in the span of a life.
